A Beautiful Barn Wedding in Yorkshire.
In 2021, after the craziness of the dreaded Covid pandemic had began to settle slightly, and weddings got the go ahead again, I photographed the wedding of James and Emily. We got to know these two at their gorgeous surprise engagement shoot, which took place in Bath. So as you can imagine, I was super excited to get to witness and be a part of their big day, 2 years later.
Emily and James are such lovely people, like really genuine people, that I now consider as friends. You learn so much about people during the wedding speeches, and you really get a sense of how well liked and loved the couple are. So many lovely things were said about them during their speeches, that I knew my impression of them was only just scratching the surface.
The wedding took place at a Cripps & Co Barn called Hazel Gapp Barn, linked here: https://crippsandco.com/hazel-gap
This venue is truly gorgeous, and one of those 'not too big, not too small' kind of venues, so it never feels empty, and yet never feels cramped. I adore old buildings, and old English heritage is my other passion in life, so I was delighted to walk in and see the beautiful old brickwork, and the old open fire places.
We had great weather, (being in England, this is always something we appreciate!) with only one downpour in the evening. But even still, Emily just picked up the bottom of her dress and embraced it anyway.
My favourite part of the day is always the bride and groom portraits, and theirs were magical. Any other photographer will know that when a bride and groom want to go out at golden hour for those extra gorgeous shots, its such a great feeling. With the sun setting behind the building, I felt like we were in Tuscany for a short moment!
